Three Trees

The ball here is circular like the cycles of life and the earth where they take place. Crab apple tree branches wrapped with copper wire hold it in. What would life be like without trees? This is the subject of one of my favorite books, “The Lorax” by Dr. Seuss. The ball is pit fired, which is an ecologically sensitive way to reclaim some of my kitchen scraps. These scraps act as a glaze in the firing process, lending to an earthy, marbleized finish.  The copper wire represents modern society’s insatiable energy demands, and the way it now dominates our lives.
